We have setup a sample site on HostGator servers to test their speed, reliability and support. This site uses quiet a bit of resources as it is made totally in PHP and Mysql and relies on databases for the whole site. We have signed up for Hostgator's 'Baby' plan, although their is nothing baby about it. We get a huge 600,000 MB diskspace and 6,000 GB bandwidth all for $4.95/month . 99% of websites on the internet would not need more resources than those that are offered in this plan. So far we have been very impressed with Hostgator's professional and reliable service. We have not experienced any downtime of more than a few minutes (very rare). Their support is also very effecient. We sent them a few pre-sales questions and we received a response within a few hours. After signing up a few queries were sent and again the response was within a few hours. Unlike some other hosts this company doesn't drop their level of support after you have paid your fees.
